Hi Guys
would be grateful for some comments on this http://youtu.be/oal3kj0twY4 I made it with 3dsmax and after effects for my little astronomy club at the school for visualisation of the solar system first time with after effects so was fun at the same time lol
not to happy with the sun fractals but is ok for this purpose I guess
cheers
That looks lovely. Beautiful graphics.
Some feedback thoughts: I take it, this is an educational tour of the solar system for school children? IF so, I think its best to speed up the video a tad, it did try my patience as it slowly honed in on each planet. Also, labels and perhaps a piece of descriptive text in a corner to highlight main features of each planet? Some cosmic background music would be nice too.
But great work, Simon!
Heya Tej
Thanks for feedback
Yes its for a tour of the solar system for the kids I will be talking them though the main features of each object hence the timings but latter on the kids will be doing the narration for it but granted I could speed up the transition to each planet got carried away there I think lol
Simon, I think that's brilliant! One thing to watch out for - more perhaps by way of explanation rather than changing the video - is the way the outer planets - especially Jupiter onwards - are shown in a gibbous phase rather than full. That's an accurate rendition of course from a Voyager perspective, but from Earth it might cause a little confusion when you later on get to the explanation about the phases of Venus and Mercury.
You should record some of the kids' narration (give them a planet each?) and repost this here later!
Hi Andy
Thanks for the comments yes I was debating myself on whether to have the planets in full phase or not and would be an easy change as I just need to change the camera angle and re-render which doesn't take long except for the earth which because I added a little more detail takes a few hours to render 🙂 .
Kids narration is something were working on currently and hopefully should have them all in a few weeks time and I will defiantly re-make the video with that included and re-post it.
I'm a bit late but well done Simon! Look forward to the narrated version.
