Very important and exciting development.  Could lead to instantaneous communication over long distances.

So cool and evermore perplexing!  If we combine that with the amazing "travel to the Stars" Sky at Night episode shown last, the relatively short term future of space exploration is looking very bright possibly within our lifetime.

Two things always boggle my mind and makes me wonder what the hell is the universe.  1. The double split experiment where one type of result only occurs if we are not "looking" and 2. Quantum Entanglement.   Makes me think some entity beyond our comprehension is having a lot of fun with us.

Quantum entanglement is the key for our interstellar exploration.  Last episode of Sky at Night showed us how we can send a one gram spaceship to the nearest stars by hitting it with enough directed light photons, giving the spaceship, in outside earth orbit, a propulsion of near light speed.  Imagine now if they combine this with quantum entanglement, we would receive data from other star systems instantly from our cute little 1 gram spaceships.   Right now, the 1 gram spacecraft are already in planning stages, which makes reaching a star a great possibility within our lifetime.  So perhaps the next evolutionary step will be to incorporate quantum entanglement data communication on all spacecrafts (both solar system and interstellar spacecrafts), and if the above experiment is anything to go by, that also may happen within our lifetime, if not, next generation lifetime at least.

I've read science fiction that used quantum entanglement for interstellar communications .  Even one of my favourite video games, Mass Effect, depicted such use but I notice that modern fiction now plays it safe and makes these ideas set way beyond our lifetimes, compared to the science fiction novels written right up to the 90s where futuristic settings were too near.  But I think tables are turning around, today's science fiction might be making the predictions too far off, compared to reality!
