Very interesting article in the September issue of US mag Astronomy about the future of the science - what the next discoveries will be over the next 50 years, etc.
Obviously lots of stuff about dark matter and dark energy and signatures of life capability on exoplanets and what the James Webb and Square Kilometre Array telescopes might bring - but also a lot of people saying things like "We don't know - and that's great! That's what makes this so exciting!" Coupled with that are a few reminders about how little we knew 50-100 years ago, which helps put in context the potential lying ahead. Definitely worth a read.
And there's an interview in that same issue with Chris Hadfield, Canada's great space traveller since William Shatner...
I'd like to read that as we always have articles or novels/films speculating future technology but less on cosmic scientific discoveries of the future.
So where can I read this article on future technology, Andy...what? on paper!? 😉
Tej, Sorry I didn't see your reply before now. Yes, indeed, Astronomy magazine. Available on Paper 1.0 - never needs to be upgraded and the batteries never run out. But available in a few newsagents. Victoria train station for one, and a tiny shop in rural Scotland (where the skies are dark). As it's a subscription-based mag I suspect the website is behind a paywall. This link may help.
