Sorry was my fault I bought a full aperture solar filter last week 🙂

I went for this one http://www.telescopehouse.com/acatalog/Orion-Full-Aperture-Solar-Filter-with-4.57-inch-Int-Dia.html

purely because I wanted some safety for the when I take it to the school little fingers have a tendency of touching the film and possibly put a hole in it other wise I would have gone for the film type but then this should last longer as well I hope lol

Good idea and sounds like and excellent purchase, Simon. I have always been a little fearful of children and solar filters, glad to see a glass filter available. There is also a solar wedge option but they cost a lot more and are only for refractors.

Look forward to your thoughts on it when you start using it 🙂

Agreed, nice idea.

Thousand Oaks do some excellent glass filters for the Sun, but they seem to be quite difficult to buy in the UK for some reason. Nice thing about them is that they give you a yellow-orange image of the Sun.

I've actually ordered a black-polymer threaded camera filter from them, in readiness for the coming solar eclipse!

Thanks guys

haven't really had a chance to use it yet but I did get a quick glimpse so just held it up and looked though it

and it had the yellowy/orangey tint to it similar to the solar glasses so should be nice to see the eclipse with it 🙂

but will defiantly tell you my thoughts once I get the chance to do some telescope work with it and hopefully take some pic's  😀
