It might be a month too late for last month's astrophotography challenge, but here's a photo of the lunar alpine valley (Vallis Alpes), along with the Sea of Rains (Mare Imbrium) and the Bay of Rainbows (Sinus Iridium), taken this evening at about 9.25pm.
One shot - 1/50th second through a 100mm f/8 refractor and a 4x Barlow.
And here's another from the evening of the southern part of the Moon, from Crater Copernicus down through the Sea of Clouds (Mare Nubium) and to the southern highlands, dominated by the crater Tycho.
Again, one shot 1/50th second - 100m f/8 refractor and 4x Barlow.
Brilliant photos Mike. Maybe too late for the astrophotography challenge, but winners all the same.
Many thanks Caradoc. I took some cropped video files as well, with the intention of stacking them... not sure when I'll get a chance to process them, though. I'll post up when done.
Never too late, Mike! If you send me the high reses I'll pop them in the folder for next month's video.
Have got around to processing one video file... which I didn't hold out much hope for, as it was just 30 seconds of Jupiter... taken from my front garden looking over my roof! Given the constraints, I'm quite pleased with it.
Jupiter with Io (top right) and Ganymede (bottom right).
That's fantastic!
