I found a site with a good explanation of the solar eclipse and timings for London. Does anyone know of any better sites?

http://www.solareclipse2015.org.uk/nasas-global-map/ & http://www.solareclipse2015.org.uk/london/

Also, I gleaned some more info elsewhere.

Pluto, Neptune, and Mercury, will be leading the eclipse & Uranus, Mars and Venus will follow.

I don't know if the sky will be dark enough to observe these planets. Any idea's Mike?

These are the times I found for the Planets, Moon and Sun. (Lat 51 30 Long 0 Anyone like to confirm?)

03:05    Pluto rises
05:34    Neptune rises
05:49    Mercury rises
06:00    Moon rises
06:04    Sun rises
06:37    Uranus rises
06:45    Mars rises
07:04    Venus rises
07:16    Pluto transits the meridian
08:25    Partial Eclipse Begins
09:31    Maximum Eclipse
10:41    Partial Eclipse Ends
10:50    Neptune transits the meridian
11:05    Mercury transits the meridian
11:28    Pluto sets
12:08    Sun transits the meridian
12:13    Moon transits the meridian
13:08    Uranus transits the meridian
13:30    Mars transits the meridian
14:15    Venus transits the meridian
16:06    Neptune sets
16:22    Mercury sets
18:13    Sun sets
18:38    Moon sets
19:38    Uranus sets
20:16    Mars sets
21:28    Venus sets

Highly unlikely I'd say. It takes an eclipse of 90% for you to notice any difference in light levels. Even at 99%, it just looks like twilight.

The one thing you will notice is the shadows of objects sharpening, rather than having a diffuse edge. Light levels, though, will be pretty much the same.

Thanks Mike, pity, it might have been fun to observe these planets. Even though Venus is bright, it will not be high in the sky. So, too much light to observe that. We will just have to wait for a total eclipse over London.

Bill, that's in 2090, we've got a fair bit of waiting to do!

I am going solo for this event, I am afraid as I had already booked a weekend break ever since Lucy Green at Astrofest told everyone that we should be planning our partial eclipse already! You won't want me there anyway because I have been purchasing all sorts of camera accessories, lol.

The event is actually teaching me a lot about daytime photography as I am trying to plan capture the partial eclipse in a certain ways but technically its a difficult endeavour without doing several composites but I will be practicing as much as I can when the sun is out and ultimately, I want to capture it with as minimal post processing as possible.

But part of me will be missing the fun of enjoying the eclipse in the company all of you 🙁
