I finally got round to processing a mosaic I took of the big spot. Unfortunately my plans for a grand full disc were scuppered by not overlapping properly, so big holes appeared. Schoolboy error. Bugger!
The 20 panels that were usable show the two very large filaments that were hanging around at the same time. The image was taken in fairly patchy cloud and needed a lot of level balancing. Notice how the resolution drops in parts of the image where seeing has been affected.

The features on that "jagged slice" mosaic are still a great sight though. A full disc I imagine would have looked absolutely amazing. I hope you get time to make another attempt, I know a lot of time has to be put into it!
Wow, that is stunning. Really well done, Rupert!
The sunspot looks superb, but I'm really impressed by those wonderful filaments. The one on the left has a real three-dimensional quality to it. Great stuff.
Rupert Just brilliant.
First new photo for the December Flamsteed video, Rupert!!!
Amazing and beautiful even at 20 panes!
Thank you all!
