Interesting (and easily missed) article on the BBC website about the Robert C Byrd Green Bank Telescope in West Virginia - surrounded by 13,000 square miles where there are no mobile phone signals, no microwave ovens allowed, no baby monitors, no wireless doorbells, and even using the hoover is frowned upon.
