The Cray Valley Radio Society have very generously invited Flamsteed members to attend a talk that will be taking place on the 16th February 2017 at 8pm.
The talk entitled, "In the Radio - 80 Years of Radio Astronomy" will be given by Paul Hyde G4CSD, from the BAA's Radio Astronomy Group, and is a historical review of how radio astronomy has developed since its accidental discovery, touching on some of the personalities involved and the way events were driven by wartime necessities. It covers some of the physics behind radio waves and how they are used to observe the universe, but the mathematical content is limited to just one, integral-free, equation.
More details can be found on the Cray Valley Radio Society’s website: http://www.cvrs.org
The talk will take place at 1st Royal Eltham Scouts HQ, Rear of 61 - 71 Southend Crescent, Eltham, London, SE9 2SD. Access is via a short path at the bottom of Southend Crescent by the mini roundabout.
If you would like to attend, please contact the club secretary at secretary@cvrs.org to make them aware.
