Hi All,
Just wanted say thanks for a great evening the astronomy gods was with us providing lovely clear sky's 🙂
When I walked in Uranus was in the telescope and on the screens unmistakeable with its pea green colouring.
Then we got to view Vista one of the dwarf planets in the asteroid belt Ceres being the better known.
Then we went of to one of my favourite DSO the great Orion nebula wow what a view the dust cloud was stunning.
Tom Kerrs did a great talk of each objects and on the telescope it self very informative and fun evening
Want to thank Tej and Nick for taking the time to  run this
btw there was talk that the images taken would be available would love to have a copy of these if possible
Hi Simon
Very glad you enjoyed it and so did I! Â I agree with all your observations, fascinating targets and a sensation to view them through the legendary refractor.
I'm in the middle of a write up which will be accompanied by the pics that I am still yet to get from Tom via Nick or Mike.  Should be uploaded by tomorrow 🙂
Excellent thanks Tej
Excellent thanks Tej
Hi Simon
Sorry for the delay, although I did the report earlier, I forgot to ask Tom for the pics. Â They're on the report now:

Simon, in case you wondering how Tom took that Orion photo with an Iphone on the eyepiece, he use a special app that hacks the Iphone camera so it can capture long exposure images. Â The app is called Night Cap and is available on the Apple Store for a ÂŁ3-4. Â Â Without the software, you'd just get a pitch black image.
On the image of Uranus, Tom was able to capture its moons as  well.  For this image, Tom recorded a video via a webcam on the finderscope (which by the way is even older than the 28inch!), then stacked the individual frames of the video with stacking software to eliminate atmospheric disturbances and noise.
Hi Tej
Thanks for the update and info I did notice you posted the report before the images great report by the way.
Unfortunately no IPhone here using android here so will have a look for something similar
although I normally use my Orion camera with my scope or the dsl but having the ability with your phone is always good you never know when it may come in handy 🙂
Anyone got any photos I can use from the open day. I did take my camera, but didnt take any photos
Obviously, I will credit the people who allow me to use their photos.
