Tips for capturing the ISS or Iridium Flares with your camera!

Ever seen the ISS cross the sky at dazzling speed? It's a fantastic sight! Why not try and capture it?
Here are some tips!

Check when the ISS or satellites will fly above you in your area from Space Weather or Heavens Above, it gives you a map of where the ISS will pass.

If you have a smart phone, I use the ISS Detector Android App to alert me!

Some tips:
Setting up the camera: Try and focus on a bright star - using liveview zoom can help.
Set the shutter speed to 15 or 30 seconds (Even use bulb mode if it is a long pass)
If it is very dark outside, you could set the ISO to between 400 and 800. Try a few pictures before the ISS turns up so you can adjust the settings before hand!

If you do not have a DSLR and instead have a point and shoot and a tripod, don't despair! You could still manage to get the ISS.
Some models of point and shoot cameras have a shutter speed up to 8 or 15 seconds. You can also stack your photos using Startrails to stack several photos taken with your point and shoot!
