We’re pleased to announce that we’ve been able to arrange a return visit to the Museum’s storage facility at Kidbrooke. Many thanks to Curator of the ROG Louise Devoy, and Store Manager Bernard Bryant for all their help. The visit will take place on the afternoon of Friday October 31st.

Kidbrooke is an RMG secure storage site not normally open to the public. It is an Aladdin’s cave of objects – Louise will show us some fascinating astronomy objects and we’ll also get to glimpse acres of stuff from the navigation collection and maybe also some ship models and other nautical hardware in passing! The store is being reorganised at the moment and the astronomy collection is being rehoused in closed cabinets. This will be our last chance to visit when we can still browse. You can see a report about our previous visit at http://flamsteed.info/2013/06/visit-to-the-astronomy-reserve-collection-at-kidbrooke/ although some of the things mentioned there have already been disassembled and packed away.

We will be able to visit in two groups on Friday October 31st – the first starting at 12:45/13:00 and the second starting at 14:15/14:30. Visits will last about an hour. The groups will be limited to 12 people each.

If you would like to come please RSVP as soon as possible and let us know if you have a preference for starting time (13:00 or 14:30). The visit is free to Flamsteed members but advance booking is essential.

Only 4 places left now (2 on each tour). If anyone wants to go, you'd better be quick!
