hello, I've just signed up to your group as I have a son aged 13 who is developing a very deep interest in astronomy and physics. We would like to attend your solar observation and don't have a telescope. Not yet anyway! Are we allowed to look through yours?

Many thanks for any replies.

Hi Jenny,

Yes, of course. Our observing sessions are open to all, and you don't need to bring equipment.

Obviously, all of our sessions are weather dependent, so check the website on the day of the event.

The solar observing sessions are held at the Royal Observatory, where we use specialist solar telescopes that the society has donated to the museum.

One of these events will be taking place today, from 11.30am.

Also today, we will be running a a Blackheath observing event to view various objects, including Saturn, the Moon, double stars and nebulae.

I hope to see you at one of our future events.
