Hi All,
I am new in this area so I was not aware of Flamsteed Society.
I am amateur stargazer. I used to live in the countryside so get use to clear night (and bright) skies. Because I use Meetup I come with an idea to create a group so, I present to you a new meetup called: Astronomers In London The main purpose of this group is to bring closer all London's existing astronomy/stargazing societies and groups.
You can use Facebook or Google account to connect with this service. No new registration is necessary. The direct link is: http://www.meetup.com/Astronomers-In-London/
This way I believe:
1. Societies can promote their activities there
2. People can see all London's astronomical events in one place - increased turnout
3. Members can think about joint events (e.g. outside of London)
4. Finally we can have some competition!
I am contacting executive members of the above societies to give them necessary rights to manage their events. If you can please pass this information to relevant people. If you are one of the executive members please join this group and send me a message so I can match your identity and give permissions.
Please note that I do not work for Meetup. There is one meetup group called SW London already.
Best regards
Thanks for the message Kardell... it looks interesting. Not sure about the "competition" element... we're all on the same side 🙂
I'll reply in more detail tomorrow, as we have an observing evening on Blackheath this evening.
Mike.
